About
Background
I studied European Archaeology (specializing in Prehistory), Philosophy, Physical and Cultural Anthropology, and Computer Science at the University of Freiburg (2008–2012, 2013–2019), the University of Texas at Austin (2012–2013), and PUC Rio de Janeiro (2005–2007). My research has been shaped above all by the historico-genetic theory of culture developed by the Freiburg sociologist Günter Dux — a framework I applied to the interpretation of Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age hoards in my doctoral dissertation, published as a monograph with Sidestone Press in 2021.
After completing my doctorate I maintained a postdoctoral research tie to the Department of History at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, where I worked on the Daunian Stelae of southern Italy and approaches to prehistoric iconography from a cognitive perspective. Since 2020 I have been working at the Computer Center of the University of Freiburg as Application Manager for the university's Document Management System — a project concerned with centralizing and coordinating the digital processes of university administration. I find the two careers less different than they first appear.
