About
I studied European Archaeology (specializing in Prehistory), Philosophy, Physical and Cultural Anthropology, and Computer Science at the University of Freiburg (2008–2012, 2013–2019), the University of Texas at Austin (2012–2013), and PUC Rio de Janeiro (2005–2007). My research has been shaped above all by the historico-genetic theory of culture developed by the Freiburg sociologist Günter Dux — a framework I applied to the interpretation of Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age hoards in my doctoral dissertation, published as a monograph with Sidestone Press in 2021. I am one of the few Latin American scholars working within this tradition, which offers a distinctive perspective on cultural evolution and the interpretation of prehistoric material culture.
After completing my doctorate I maintained a postdoctoral research tie to the Department of History at the Universidade Federal Fluminense, where I worked on the Daunian Stelae of southern Italy and approaches to prehistoric iconography from a cognitive perspective. Since 2020 I have been working at the Computer Center of the University of Freiburg as Application Manager for the university's Document Management System — a project concerned with centralizing and coordinating the digital processes of university administration. I find the two careers less different than they first appear.
Employment
Responsible for the administration, configuration, and strategic development of the university's DMS (d.velop documents). Stakeholder management, requirements engineering, vendor coordination, and governance. Chair of the IT sub-working group of the AG-DMS Baden-Württemberg.
Taught Portuguese I, II, and III at university level — up to three parallel course levels per semester.
Research on the Daunian Stelae of southern Italy. Cognitive approaches to prehistoric iconography within the postulate of the convergence of modern consciousness. Member of NEREIDA research group.
